About Dharmashastra National Law University (DNLU):
Dharmashastra National Law University, Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh (DNLU), was established in 2018 under the Madhya Pradesh National University Act 24 of 2018. The university aims to advance legal education and advocacy, focusing on value-based teaching and professional ethics. DNLU’s mission is to develop a strong foundation for future legal professionals, emphasizing advocacy skills and simulation exercises. The Hon’ble Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court is the Chancellor of the university.

About the Centre for Research in Environmental Law (CREL):
CREL is dedicated to research and scholarship in environmental law. The Centre promotes outstanding research and facilitates the sharing of experiences and opinions on environmental law through its initiatives. CREL aims to support legal and social science professionals in addressing contemporary environmental issues.

About the Centre for Constitutional Law:
Established in 2020, the Centre for Constitutional Law fosters debate and research on constitutional law topics, especially rights of vulnerable sections of society. The Centre is student-run and aims to generate interest in constitutional law by conducting lectures, debates, and discussions on relevant issues.

About the Competition:

The 1st National Environmental Law PIL Drafting Competition, 2024 is a unique platform designed to encourage aspiring legal professionals to hone their PIL (Public Interest Litigation) drafting skills, focusing on environmental and constitutional law. The competition invites participants to draft compelling PILs, engaging with legal statutes, treaties, and precedents to craft arguments that resonate with judges and policymakers. This competition also emphasizes fostering creativity, critical thinking, and innovation in environmental law advocacy.

  • Release of Proposition: 10th October 2024
  • Last Date for Seeking Clarifications: 22nd October 2024
  • Release of Clarifications: 25th October 2024
  • Last Date for Registration & Fee Payment: 15th November 2024
  • Last Date for PIL Draft Submission: 15th November 2024
  • Result Declaration (Memorial Round): 2nd December 2024

Prizes:

  • Winner: ₹10,000
  • Runner-up: ₹7,000
  • Third Place: ₹5,000
  • Certificate of Merit: Top 10 teams
  • Certificate of Excellence: Top 4 teams (Best Written Submission)

Eligibility & Team Composition:

  • Open to all law students from recognized law schools, universities, and institutions.
  • Team composition: One or two members. Cross-university teams are allowed.

  • DNLU Students:

Penalties:

  • Late Submission: 2 marks deducted
  • Non-adherence to Guidelines: 2 marks deducted for each violation
