About the Event

The 1st SRMUH National Moot Court Competition, organized by SRMUH’s Faculty of Law, marks a significant milestone in the university’s dedication to nurturing practical legal expertise. This moot court competition is set to provide law students a challenging platform that bridges academic study and the practical skills required for a successful legal career. Participants will have the opportunity to engage with complex legal issues centered on Intellectual Property Rights, Competition Law, and Artificial Intelligence. By simulating courtroom proceedings, students will practice essential advocacy, research, and legal drafting skills, all while honing their ability to think critically and communicate effectively. This competition serves as a forum for rigorous intellectual exchange and aims to prepare students for future professional success in the legal field.

Led by Professor Dr. Vijay Kumar Singh, the Dean of the Faculty of Law, the Moot Court Committee has meticulously organized this event to foster a high standard of professionalism, collaborative learning, and ethical responsibility among participants. The Faculty of Law at SRMUH has distinguished itself as a center of legal education, emphasizing research and advocacy, and organizing moot court activities that reflect the university’s commitment to practical training and scholarly excellence.


Event Dates and Important Deadlines

  • Opening of Registration: 14th October 2024
  • Deadline for Clarifications on Moot Proposition: 17th November 2024
  • Last Date for Registration: 9th November 2024
  • Submission Deadline for Memorials (Soft Copy): 23rd November 2024
  • Researcher Test and Preliminary Rounds: 24th November 2024 (Online)
  • Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals, and Final Rounds: 7th & 8th December 2024 (Offline)

Format and Evaluation

The competition will be conducted in two phases:

  1. Preliminary Rounds – These will be held online, testing each team’s analytical and oratorical skills in a competitive format that allows for remote participation.
  2. Advanced Rounds – The knockout stages, including Quarter-finals, Semi-finals, and Finals, will be conducted offline at SRMUH’s Sonipat campus. The judges will comprise legal practitioners and faculty experts who will evaluate the participants’ legal acumen, clarity of thought, and overall presentation.

The advanced rounds will feature a two-judge bench for Quarter-finals, a three-judge bench for Semi-finals, and a five-judge bench for the Final round. Scoring will reflect a holistic evaluation of participants’ understanding of legal principles, application of law, reasoning, and persuasive capabilities, thus upholding the academic rigor and competitive spirit of the event.

  • Venue for Offline Rounds: SRM University Delhi-NCR, Rajiv Gandhi Education City, Sonepat, Haryana
  • Mode: Hybrid, offering participants a flexible approach with initial rounds conducted online and subsequent advanced rounds held in person at the university campus.

The competition will honor participants in various categories:

  • Winner: Trophy and cash prize of INR 21,000
  • Runner-Up: Trophy and cash prize of INR 11,000
  • Second Runner-Up: Trophy and cash prize of INR 7,000
  • Best Memorial: Trophy and cash prize of INR 5,000
  • Best Speaker: Trophy and cash prize of INR 5,000
  • Best Researcher: Trophy and cash prize of INR 5,000

All participants will receive certificates of appreciation, recognizing their contributions to this prestigious event and their commitment to legal excellence.
