About the University/Organization
The West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (WBNUJS), established in 1999, is one of India’s premier law institutions. Known for its academic rigor, inclusive ethos, and emphasis on legal reform, WBNUJS hosts high-profile events such as the NUJS-HSF Moot and the ADR Mediation Competition. Through initiatives like Para-Invicta, India’s first sports fest for specially-abled students, the university reaffirms its commitment to accessibility and equity.
The 1st NUJS National Disability Law Moot is a pioneering national-level competition solely dedicated to disability rights under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 and related legal frameworks.
About the Event
This event aims to foster legal discourse on disability rights and promote awareness among future legal professionals. Designed for Indian law students, this moot court competition is set to:
- Deepen engagement with legal issues affecting persons with disabilities (PwDs).
- Encourage discourse around inclusion, education rights, discrimination, and accessibility.
- Provide a platform for law students to argue complex disability law scenarios before panels of eminent judges and scholars.
The moot will comprise written memorial rounds, oral arguments, and a researcher’s test, each grounded in real-world legal challenges.
