About Dharmashastra National Law University (DNLU)
Dharmashastra National Law University, located in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, was established in 2018 under the Madhya Pradesh Dharmashastra National Law University Act. About the Event
The 4th Justice R.K. Tankha Parliamentary Debate (JRKTPD’24), organized by the Debating Society of DNLU, is one of the university’s flagship events. This annual British Parliamentary debate competition is held in memory of the late Hon’ble Mr. Justice R.K. Tankha, with generous sponsorship from the office of Senior Advocate and Member of Parliament, Mr. Vivek Tankha. The competition offers a substantial prize pool of ₹3,20,000, making it one of the largest debate competitions in India.
This event provides a platform for both novice and seasoned debaters to engage in intense intellectual discourse, challenging themselves to think critically and argue persuasively. JRKTPD’24 is open to participants from across the country and promises to deliver a vibrant and enriching debating experience.

Team Composition and Eligibility
- Team Composition: Each team must consist of either two speakers or two speakers and one adjudicator.
- Eligibility:
- Open to undergraduate and postgraduate students from universities recognized by the UGC.
- Cross-university teams are allowed.
- Individuals currently enrolled in school are also eligible to participate.
Rounds
The competition will be conducted in multiple rounds:
- Preliminary Rounds: All teams will compete in the initial rounds.
- Quarterfinals: The top 16 teams from the preliminary rounds will advance to the quarterfinals.
- Semifinals: The top 8 teams from the quarterfinals will move on to the semifinals.
- Finals: The best-performing teams will compete in the grand finale.
