National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam (NLUJAA) is a reputed public law university with a legacy of academic excellence and contribution to legal scholarship. Known for hosting intellectually enriching events like moot court competitions, debates, and internships, NLUJAA has produced thought leaders in law and public policy. Established under the National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam Act, 2009, NLUJAA aims to promote legal education and research with a modern, inclusive approach, drawing students from across the country.
The Gurjeet Singh Memorial National Moot Court Competition is held in honour of Late Prof. (Dr.) Gurjeet Singh, the founder Vice-Chancellor of NLUJAA. The 6th Edition is designed to provide law students a platform for hands-on exposure to courtroom advocacy, legal research, and oral argumentation. Organized in collaboration with the Chambers of Abhinav Mishra (Title Sponsor), Lexcuria Lawyers (Industry Engagement Partner), and SCC Online & SCC Times (Knowledge and Media Partners), this event will challenge and hone advocacy skills while celebrating the legacy of one of India’s eminent legal educators.

The competition will consist of memorial submission rounds followed by three days of oral pleadings before esteemed legal professionals and academicians. Evaluation will be based on advocacy skills, research depth, memorial drafting, and articulation. The format includes preliminary rounds, quarterfinals, semifinals, and a final round.

Senior Advocates, Practicing Lawyers, Faculty Members, and Legal Scholars from reputed institutions and the sponsoring chambers will serve as judges and evaluators throughout the rounds.

A: Students currently pursuing a 3-year or 5-year LLB course at a recognized law institution.
Q2: Is there a registration fee?
A: Yes, ₹9,000 per team.
Q3: Will all participants receive a certificate?
A: Yes, all participants will receive e-certificates.
Q4: Can international law students apply?
A: No, the competition is open to Indian law schools only.
Q5: Are accommodation and travel reimbursed?
A: Accommodation details will be provided to registered teams via email. Travel is to be arranged by the participants.
