About NALSA
The National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) was established under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987, to ensure free legal services for the weaker sections of society and promote access to justice.
About the Internship Opportunity
NALSA’s internship programme offers law students the chance to gain hands-on experience in various specialised areas of legal services. The programme is designed to familiarize interns with NALSA’s working mechanisms and encourage young law students to contribute towards ensuring justice for all.
Mode
This internship is on-site, requiring physical presence at the NALSA office in New Delhi.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Study reading materials, including SOPs, schemes, modules, and reports related to NALSA’s activities.
- Participate in 10 days of field visits to institutions like:
- Delhi State Legal Services Authority
- District Legal Services Authority
- Legal Aid Defense Counsel Office
- National Lok Adalat
- Observe the workings of Remand Courts, CAW Cells, and DM Offices.
- Visit the Mediation Centre, Supreme Court Library, and Supreme Court Legal Services Committee.
- Engage in an interactive session with the NALSA team at the end of the internship.
Eligibility Criteria
- Open to students pursuing a Three-Year LL.B Course or Five-Year Integrated Law Course from recognized universities/colleges/institutions.
- Preference will be given to:
- 2nd or 3rd-year students in the Three-Year LL.B Course.
- 4th or 5th-year students in the Five-Year Integrated Law Course.
Stipend
This is an unpaid internship, and no stipend or remuneration will be provided.
