About the University/Organizers
The West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (NUJS), Kolkata, established under the WBNUJS Act, 1999, is one of India’s premier law universities. Recognized by the Bar Council of India and accredited with A+ by NAAC in 2024, NUJS has built a reputation for academic excellence and practical legal training.
The Competition Commission of India (CCI), India’s foremost antitrust regulator, plays a central role in safeguarding fair market practices and enforcing the Competition Act, 2002. By collaborating with leading institutions, CCI nurtures young legal professionals through moot courts, essay competitions, and research projects.
The National Competition and Data Protection Law Moot (NCDFM) hosted at NUJS is one of the flagship events in competition law education. It is supported by leading law firms such as King Stubb & Kasiva, Shivadass & Shivadass, Khaitan & Co., Chandhiok & Mahajan, and BTG Advaya, who also serve as sponsors and award partners.
About the Event
The 5th CCI–NUJS–NCDFM Moot Court Competition 2025 will focus on contemporary issues in competition law, antitrust regulation, and trade practices.
The competition is designed to provide law students with an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in advocacy, legal drafting, and competition law practice. Participants will argue on complex issues of mergers, abuse of dominance, cartel regulation, and international competition law principles before expert judges from academia, judiciary, and industry.
With a strong legacy of past editions, this moot is now regarded as one of the most prestigious platforms for law students interested in corporate and competition law.

Format and Structure
The competition will consist of two stages:
- Memo Qualifier Round – Teams must submit memorials which will be evaluated for selection.
- Oral Rounds (Top 32 Teams) – Held at NUJS Kolkata, including Preliminary Rounds, Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and the Grand Finale.
Evaluation will be based on research quality, clarity of arguments, drafting skills, and oral advocacy performance.

- Mode: Hybrid – Memorial rounds online, Oral rounds offline at NUJS campus.

- Registration Fee:
- ₹4,500 (Early Bird)
- ₹6,000 (Regular Registration)
- Additional ₹6,000 for top 32 teams qualifying for oral rounds (includes accommodation & local transport).
- Eligibility: Law students enrolled in 3-year or 5-year LL.B. programs from recognized institutions. (LL.M. and diploma students are not eligible). Each team may have 2–3 members.
- Prizes & Awards:
- Winner (KSK Award): ₹50,000 + Internship at King Stubb & Kasiva + Certificate of Merit
- Runners-Up (Shivadass Award): ₹30,000 + Internship at Shivadass & Shivadass + Certificate of Merit
- Best Speaker (Prelims): ₹20,000 + Internship at Khaitan & Co.
- Runner-Up Speaker: ₹10,000 + Internship at Khaitan & Co.
- Best Memorial (Complainant): ₹20,000 + Internship at BTG Advaya
- Best Memorial (Respondent): ₹20,000 + Internship at Chandhiok & Mahajan
- Accommodation: Provided during competition days (14–16 November 2025).
- Mentors & Judges: Senior lawyers from sponsoring firms, academics, and former CCI panel counsels.
- Team Format: 2–3 members per team (2 speakers + 1 researcher OR 2 orators).

Q1: Who can participate?
A: Only undergraduate LL.B. students (3-year or 5-year course) from recognized institutions in India.
Q2: Is there a registration fee?
A: Yes. ₹4,500 for early bird registrations and ₹6,000 for regular registrations. An additional ₹6,000 applies to the top 32 teams advancing to oral rounds.
