About the Event
The JGLS – IIAC International Arbitration Moot (IAM) 2025, organised by the Moot Court Society of JGLS in collaboration with the India International Arbitration Centre (IIAC), is the second edition of this prestigious competition.
The event is designed to train law students in international commercial arbitration by simulating complex disputes and encouraging rigorous advocacy, drafting, and research. It is an excellent opportunity for law students aiming to build expertise in arbitration, international dispute resolution, and procedural law.
The Moot Problem focuses on critical procedural issues in arbitration, including third-party funding, security for costs, challenges to arbitral awards, and enforceability of arbitral decisions. Participants will argue in accordance with IIAC Rules, enhancing their familiarity with institutional arbitration frameworks.

Format and Structure
The Moot will consist of three stages:
- Memorial Submission Phase – Teams submit written submissions evaluated on clarity, legal analysis, and formatting.
- Preliminary Rounds – Oral pleadings before panels of experts.
- Knockout Rounds – Quarter-finals, semi-finals, and finals, judged by senior advocates, arbitrators, and academicians.
Evaluation will be based on legal research quality, advocacy skills, drafting, clarity, and analytical ability.

Additional Highlights
- Prizes/Perks: Cash prizes, trophies, internship opportunities, publication opportunities, and certificates of merit.
- Eligibility: Undergraduate law students enrolled in a 5-year or 3-year LL.B. program at a recognised institution. Each institution can register only one team. A team shall consist of three members (two speakers + one researcher).
- Registration Fee: No registration fee shall be charged for any team participating in the Competition
- Mentors/Judges: Senior advocates, experienced arbitrators, and members of the IIAC Advisory Board including Ganesh Chandru (Partner, Dua Associates), Shashank Garg (Senior Advocate, Delhi HC), Nitesh Jain (Partner, Trilegal).
- Team/Individual: Team participation only (3 members per team).

Q1: Who can participate?
A: All undergraduate law students (3-year or 5-year LL.B.) from recognised law schools are eligible.
Q2: Is there a registration fee?
A: Yes, teams are required to pay the registration fee (₹6,000).
Q3: Will participants receive certificates?
A: Yes, all participants will receive e-certificates. Winners and finalists will also receive trophies and merit certificates.
Q4: What are the rewards for winners?
A: Cash prizes, publication opportunities, internship offers, and trophies.
Q5: Can international students apply?
A: Currently, participation is limited to Indian law schools.
Q6: Is team participation allowed?
A: Yes, participation is strictly team-based (three members per team).
