About the Event

The National Seminar on “Music and Copyright in the Digital Era: Navigating Innovation, Protection, and Policy”, organized by the DPIIT IPR Chair at NLIU, Bhopal, will be held on 29 September 2025.

The seminar is designed to provide a timely platform for scholars, practitioners, policymakers, and industry professionals to deliberate on the evolving intersections of music and copyright law. With the rise of digital technologies, music creation, distribution, and consumption have undergone revolutionary changes—raising complex questions around royalties, licensing, piracy, authorship, and Artificial Intelligence in music.

Format and Structure

The seminar will be conducted offline at NLIU, Bhopal. It will feature technical sessions, paper presentations, and interactive discussions with experts.

Participants can submit papers on themes such as copyright protection of musical works, performer’s rights, collective rights management, piracy, AI in music, and global perspectives. Selected papers will be presented during the seminar, and outstanding submissions may be considered for publication in an edited volume or special journal issue.
