National Law University, Jodhpur (NLUJ) is a reputed national law university in India known for its academic excellence and innovative legal research. The Centre for Environmental Law and Policy (CELP) is one of its prominent academic centers focused on interdisciplinary legal studies and policy engagement.
About the Event
The Annual Essay Competition is CELP’s flagship initiative encouraging law and social science students to reflect critically on pressing issues through an interdisciplinary lens. This year’s theme, “Viksit Bharat 2047: Envisioning India’s Journey to Development”, invites original insights on India’s developmental journey through legal, institutional, and policy-based reforms.

Format and Structure
Participants may submit essays on any topic aligned with the main theme or explore one of the following suggested sub-themes:

- Health and Well-being
- Startups and Innovation

Submissions will be judged on originality, depth of analysis, legal reasoning, and clarity.

- 3-year or 5-year LL.B. Programmes
- 1-year or 2-year LL.M. Programmes
- Any UG/PG programme in Law or Social Sciences from a recognized Indian institution

Q1: Who is eligible to participate?
A: UG or PG students of law or social sciences enrolled in recognized Indian universities.
Q2: Can I write on a sub-theme not listed?
A: Yes. As long as your essay aligns with the central theme.
Q3: Can international students apply?
A: No. The competition is open only to students from recognized Indian institutions.
Q4: Will I get a certificate if I don’t win?
A: Yes. All registered participants will receive e-certificates.
Q5: Is co-authorship allowed?
A: Yes, for up to two authors per essay.
