About the Event:
Vasundhara – The Green Society, under the aegis of Law College Dehradun, is organizing the National Article Writing Competition 5.0. The competition’s theme is “Indigenous Rights and Environmental Protection: Legal Challenges in Safeguarding India’s Nativity.” This event offers a platform for students to explore and address the complex relationship between indigenous rights and environmental conservation.
Indigenous communities in India face substantial challenges in protecting their traditional lands, forests, and resources. Despite constitutional safeguards and international commitments, the rights of indigenous people often conflict with economic development and environmental conservation efforts. This competition encourages students to dive into these issues and propose legal solutions, focusing on the balance between development and environmental protection.
The event aims to promote interest in environmental law among students, encouraging them to conduct research and enhance their writing skills. Through this competition, participants will gain a deeper understanding of indigenous rights and the legal frameworks required to protect these communities and their environment.
