Founded in 2018, Birla School of Law (BSOL) at BGU is dedicated to delivering high-quality legal education with state-of-the-art facilities and an excellent faculty. The institution emphasizes practical legal training through moot courts, trial advocacy, and legal aid activities, helping students develop the skills needed for a successful legal career.

About the National Moot Court Competition:

In honor of the late Mr. Viswanath Pasayat, a renowned lawyer known for his dedication to justice for the underprivileged, Birla School of Law, in collaboration with the Viswanath Pasayat Memorial Committee, is organizing a National Moot Court Competition. The event is guided by his son, Hon’ble Justice Arijit Pasayat, a former Judge of the Supreme Court of India.

• Date: 3rd-4th October 2024
• Mode: Offline
• Location: Birla Global University Campus, Bhubaneswar

Eligibility:

The competition is open to students enrolled in three-year and five-year integrated law degree courses from any University/Law School/College/Department across India. Each team should consist of two speakers and one researcher, and only one team is allowed from each institution.

Rounds:

• Preliminary Rounds: Each team will argue twice, once for the petitioner and once for the respondent.
• Semi-Final and Final Rounds: The top four teams from the preliminaries will move to the Semi-finals, with the winners advancing to the Finals. Ties will be broken by the best speaker’s score.

Prizes:

• Winning Team: ₹20,000 + Trophy
• Runner’s Up Team: ₹15,000 + Trophy
• Best Memorial: ₹10,000 + Trophy
• Best Researcher: ₹5,000 + Trophy
• Best Speaker: ₹5,000 + Trophy
• Top Six Teams (besides the winners): Book hampers for each team
• All Participants: Participation certificates

Important Dates:

• Last Date for Provisional Registration: 16th September 2024
• Confirmation of Registration & Team Code Allotment: 18th September 2024
• Last Date for Memorial & Travel Plan Submission: 25th September 2024
• Competition Dates: 3rd-4th October 2024
• Cash Prize Distribution Ceremony: 10th October 2024

Registration Process:

To register, teams must email a scanned copy of Annexure-A (Registration Form) and the payment receipt to bsolmcc@bgu.ac.in by 16th September 2024. The registration fee is ₹2,000 per team, and ₹4,000 if accommodation is needed. The fee is non-refundable.
