Position: In-house Lawyer – Legal Risk Management (Retail)

Job Description
As part of the Legal Risk Management Team (LRM), you will play a critical role in supporting Retail Banking & Business Banking teams. Your primary responsibility will involve strategizing and developing legal processes that enhance cost and time-effective legal tools for onboarding customers, compliance, document execution, security perfection, and legal audits.
Key responsibilities include:
- Legal Advisory:
- Provide legal advice and support on a variety of banking and finance laws, including the Companies Act, 2013, Transfer of Property Act, Banking Regulation Act, 1949, SARFAESI Act, 2002, and Limitation Act, 1963.
- Offer insights on legal queries and problem statements presented by different business teams.
- Review Title Search Reports (TSRs) for various classes of properties, offering legal recommendations and solutions based on the reviews.
- Legal Drafting:
- Draft and vet a wide array of documents, including loan agreements, security documents (mortgages, guarantees, hypothecation deeds), and other financing-related paperwork.
- Ensure that all contracts comply with legal standards and align with the organization’s objectives.
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Management:
- Work closely with internal teams such as Credit, Business, and Operations to address legal concerns.
- Coordinate with empaneled advocates and law firms, as necessary, for various legal tasks.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Maintain compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Address all legal queries raised by internal stakeholders and provide timely resolutions.
- Teamwork:
- As a dedicated team member, engage effectively with other members of the legal team and assist in taking on new responsibilities as required.
Qualifications
- Education: LL.B degree (Mandatory)
- Experience: 5-10 years of legal experience, preferably with a mix of law firm and in-house counsel exposure, particularly in the banking and finance sectors.
- Strong knowledge of banking regulations, legal drafting, and document management is essential.
- Experience in title due diligence and providing legal opinions is a must.
