About the University/Organization

Gujarat National Law University (GNLU), Gandhinagar, is one of India’s leading law schools, renowned for its strong academic programs, cutting-edge research, and wide-ranging policy initiatives. Established in 2003, GNLU has consistently promoted excellence in teaching and research across multiple branches of law, while also focusing on global perspectives and practical application.

The Centre for Public International Law (CPIL) at GNLU was founded in 2010 and serves as a hub for scholarship, dialogue, and policy innovation in international law. CPIL has a strong track record of engaging with diverse fields such as the Law of the Sea, Maritime Law, Humanitarian Law, and International Relations. It regularly hosts conferences, workshops, and research projects to advance cutting-edge scholarship and to contribute meaningfully to the international legal landscape.

Through the launch of the GNLU CPIL Magazine, the Centre is creating a platform for students, researchers, academics, and practitioners to contribute to contemporary debates. The magazine provides a space to address dynamic issues in Public International Law, Private International Law, Human Rights, Climate Justice, Digital Economy, Investor-State Dispute Settlement (ISDS), and related themes. This Call for Articles for Volume I, Issue II presents an excellent opportunity for contributors to publish their work and engage with the global legal community.


About the Call for Articles

The Call for Articles – GNLU CPIL Magazine invites original, unpublished submissions from academicians, legal practitioners, policymakers, and students. The central theme of the upcoming issue is Private International Law, though the scope remains broad to include related and emerging fields.

Submissions may cover, but are not limited to:

  • Transnational Family Law & Cross-Border Recognition – child custody disputes, international adoption, surrogacy, marriage recognition across jurisdictions.
  • Climate Justice & Private International Law – corporate environmental liability, climate litigation, climate-induced migration.
  • Investor–State Dispute Settlement (ISDS) – reforms, enforcement challenges, treaty interpretations.
  • Corporate Accountability Across Borders – supply chain due diligence, sustainability, extraterritorial responsibility.
  • Personal Status Recognition – same-sex relationship recognition, adoption rights, gender recognition.
  • Digital Economy – cryptocurrency disputes, e-commerce jurisdiction, conflicts in data regimes, AI governance.

The magazine follows a double-blind peer review process, ensuring that submissions are evaluated on the basis of originality, research depth, and contribution to contemporary legal discourse. Selected works will be published in Volume I, Issue II of the GNLU CPIL Magazine.
