The Centre for Research in Environmental Law (CREL) is an initiative of DNLU, aimed at responding to the growing need for legal scholarship in the field of environmental law. The theme for the Call for Articles is “Ticking Timebomb: Climate Change Litigation for a Climate-Safe Future.” This theme focuses on the critical role of the judiciary in tackling the escalating global crisis of climate change. In a world where governments and corporations are often criticized for failing to meet their climate obligations, litigation has emerged as a powerful tool for holding these entities accountable.
The theme emphasizes the rise in climate-related lawsuits that seek to compel stronger climate action, ensure justice for affected communities, and protect environmental sustainability. The legal system is increasingly viewed as the last line of defense in safeguarding human rights and preventing irreversible environmental damage.
