Government Law College, Mumbai, holds the distinction of being the oldest law school in Asia, established in 1855. Over its long history, it has significantly shaped India’s legal and judicial landscape. The college has nurtured some of the greatest legal minds and has been a cornerstone in India’s legal and political history.
About SPIL, Mumbai
SPIL Mumbai is a dynamic student-based organization of Government Law College, Mumbai, dedicated to advancing the study of International Law beyond traditional classrooms. We conduct quizzes, guest lectures, and various competitions, including the renowned International Law Summit. Our aim is to engage students and professionals in comprehensive discussions and research on international legal issues.
Eligibility
Submissions are open to:
- Graduate students
- Professors
- Industry practitioners
- Academicians
- Research scholars
Submissions from individuals outside these categories may be considered at the discretion of the organization.
Theme
Submissions on any topic of international relevance are welcome.
Awards and Merit
Selected blogs will be published on our official website: SPIL Mumbai. Authors will also receive an E-Certificate of Publication.
Submission Guidelines
- Co-authored Submissions: Accepted. Each entry should be treated separately. Submissions falling into both categories (co-authored and single) will be disqualified.
- Original Work: Submissions must be original and unpublished. Plagiarism limit is 15-20% (excluding footnotes).
- Anonymity: No part of the submission should contain author identification (name, university/college, etc.).
- Language: Submissions must be in UK English.
- Word Limit: 1000-1500 words, including footnotes and bibliography. Longer submissions may be considered for publication in a series.
- Introduction: Include an introduction of up to 150 words, clearly indicating the theme.
- Citations: Follow the Harvard Bluebook (20th edition) referencing style. All sources must be hyperlinked.
- Footnotes: Minimize the use of extensive footnotes or quotations.
- Submission Format: Email your submission to glcspilmumbai@gmail.com with the subject “Blog Submission.” Attach in .doc or .docx format.
- Author Information: Include a separate document with:
- Full Name(s) of Author(s)
- Chosen Theme & Sub-topic
- Title of the Blog
- Name and Address of College/Institute/University
- Programme Enrolled & Current Year of Study
- Email Address & Contact Number
- Brief Bio of Author(s) (5-6 lines)
- Review Process: The review may take up to 2-3 weeks. Authors will be notified via email.
- Exclusivity: Submissions must not be submitted for any other competition or purpose.

- Line Spacing: 1.5
- Footnotes:
- Font: Times New Roman
- Font Size: 10
- Line Spacing: 1.0
- Margins: 1 inch or 2.54 cm on all sides.
Miscellaneous
- By submitting, authors agree to indemnify SPIL against claims of copyright infringement or plagiarism. Proven infringement will result in disqualification.
- SPIL reserves the right to retract the publication certificate if copyright infringement or plagiarism is discovered.
- SPIL retains the right to publish the submission as deemed appropriate.
- Decisions regarding eligibility, evaluation, and awards are at SPIL’s discretion.
- The organization’s decision is final in all matters.
