Elective Course Formats

Elective courses may vary in their focus and pedagogy, falling into the following categories:

  2. Research Courses:
    • Focused on reviewing primary and secondary research.
    • Culminates in a Term Paper.
  3. Practice or Clinical Courses:
    • Includes fieldwork, simulations, drafting, or litigation exercises.
    • Evaluated through clinical methods.

Eligibility Criteria

Individuals interested in offering elective courses must meet the following requirements:

  • Educational Qualifications: Graduate and postgraduate degrees in Law or the Social Sciences are mandatory.
  • Professional Experience:
    • At least 3 years of post-qualification experience preferred, OR
    • 7–10 years of legal practice experience.
  • Academic Credentials: Published widely in the field of expertise.
  • Commitment to On-Campus Teaching: All elective courses require in-person teaching.

Support and Reimbursement

  • Travel: One economy-class domestic airfare (to-and-fro Bengaluru).
  • Accommodation: Arrangements for up to 10 days, after mutual discussion.
  • Note: International flight expenses will not be reimbursed.

Application Process


Proposal Review Process

Your proposal will undergo evaluation by the Academic Review Committee (ARC) at NLSIU. A course will be offered if:

  2. It attracts a minimum number of student registrations, as per the University’s Academic Regulations.
