About the University/Organization

Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU), Shimla, through its Centre for Human Rights and Disability Studies, is at the forefront of advancing inclusive legal discourse and interdisciplinary research. The University hosts the Journal of Disability Studies (JDS)—the first peer-reviewed law journal in India solely focused on disability law and related jurisprudence among National Law Schools.

About the Event

The HPNLU Journal of Disability Studies (JDS) is now accepting submissions for Volume II (2025). This peer-reviewed annual journal invites contributions from scholars, academicians, policymakers, professionals, and activists with a focus on legal and interdisciplinary aspects of disability. The journal encourages original and analytical contributions that promote inclusive perspectives and first-person narratives in the realm of disability law and studies.

• Submission Categories:
  • Articles: 6,000–10,000 words
  • Essays/Comments: 4,000–6,000 words
  • Book Reviews: 3,000–4,000 words (Must be submitted with a hard copy of the book)
  • Case/Legislative Comments: 4,000–6,000 words
• Abstract: 250–300 words, highlighting novelty and contribution
• Language: English only
• Co-authorship: Allowed for up to 2 authors
• Review Process: Blind peer-review
• Formatting:
  • Font: Times New Roman
  • Body: Size 12, 1.5 spacing
  • Footnotes: Size 10, single spacing
  • Citation Style: HPNLU-Shimla Citation Style

• Manuscripts with over 10% similarity (plagiarism) will be rejected.
• Author(s) must submit a covering letter with their name, affiliation, and a declaration of originality.
• Submissions must not include author identifiers in the manuscript itself.
• Use of Wikipedia, blogs, or non-authoritative online sources is discouraged.
• Selected papers will be published in the Annual Volume II (2025) and contributors will retain moral rights.
