National Law University, Jodhpur (NLU Jodhpur) is one of India’s premier law schools, consistently ranked among the top institutions for legal education. Established in 1999, NLU Jodhpur aims to foster excellence in legal scholarship and research.


About the Event

The Journal of Intellectual Property Studies (JIPS) is a bi-annual, student-edited, peer-reviewed academic journal published by NLU Jodhpur since 2016. It focuses on contemporary developments in intellectual property (IP) law and overlapping domains such as media, technology, and competition law. The Journal seeks to encourage informed debate and research among scholars, practitioners, and students.

JIPS is currently inviting original, unpublished manuscripts for Volume IX, Issue I, scheduled for publication in September 2025. The Journal maintains a double-blind peer review process and is committed to open access, allowing all articles to be read and cited freely.

Format/Structure

JIPS accepts the following categories of submissions:

- Advertisement -
  • Long Articles (6,000–10,000 words): In-depth legal analysis with novel perspectives.
  • Essays (4,000–6,000 words): Focused examination of a narrower legal issue.
  • Case Comments (up to 5,000 words): Critical review of recent judgments (with 150–200 word abstract).
  • Legislative Comments (1,000–3,000 words): Analytical review of legislative developments (with 150–200 word abstract).

An abstract of 250–300 words (for articles/essays) or 150–200 words (for comments) is mandatory. All citations must follow The Bluebook (20th Edition) format. Speaking footnotes are permitted.

Additional Details

  • Originality is a strict requirement; plagiarized work will be rejected.
  • Simultaneous submissions must be disclosed, and the Editorial Board must be notified upon acceptance elsewhere.
  • Submissions are reviewed on a rolling basis, though this call is for the September 2025 issue.
  • All correspondence should be directed to jips@nlujodhpur.ac.in, but only in exceptional cases.
  • Co-authorship (up to 2 authors) is allowed.
