About the Organization
The partnership between the Center for Child Rights (CCR) at the National University of Study and Research in Law (NUSRL) in Ranchi and UNICEF underscores a joint commitment to the advancement of child protection and the realization of child rights. As a center of excellence, CCR conducts various activities such as seminars, trainings, workshops, and action research aimed at deepening the understanding and implementation of child protection laws.
About the Seminar/Conference
The One-Day National Conference on “Best Interest of Child & Child Protection: Challenges in Interpretation and Enforcement” intends to tackle the intricacies surrounding the interpretation and enforcement of the principle of the best interest of the child. By fostering dialogue among policymakers, practitioners, and advocates, the conference seeks to devise evidence-based strategies to bolster effective child protection mechanisms.
About Call for Papers
The call for papers by NLU, Ranchi invites abstract submissions for original research focusing on sub-themes including the intersection of diverse professional fields with children’s needs, the nexus between tribal culture and the best interest of the child, initiatives to empower children in safeguarding their rights, the application of universal standards in culturally diverse contexts, and the assessment of legal remedies in protecting children’s rights.
Eligibility
Interested researchers, academicians, practitioners, and students with a keen interest in child rights and child protection are encouraged to submit abstracts.
Theme
“Best Interest of Child & Child Protection: Challenges in Interpretation and Enforcement”
Sub-Themes
1. Diverse professional field and multifaceted needs of children.
2. The best interest of the child and tribal culture.
3. Exploration of strategies to empower children and enhance their agency in safeguarding their rights and well-being.
4. Challenges in applying universal standards in culturally diverse contexts.
5. Effectiveness of legal remedies and enforcement mechanisms in protecting children’s rights.
Guidelines for Paper Submission
Abstracts, not exceeding 300 words, for original research papers on the aforementioned themes should be submitted as Word documents along with a cover letter containing the name and designation of the author(s).
Each abstract/paper may have a maximum of two authors.
Authors of shortlisted abstracts will be requested to submit full-length papers for presentation at the seminar.
Full-length research papers should be in the form of articles ranging from 3000 to 7000 words (inclusive of footnotes) and must adhere to the Bluebook 20th edition citation style.
Selected papers may be considered for publication in book form.
