About the HPNLU Journal of Disability Studies

The HPNLU Journal of Disability Studies (JDS) – Volume II (2025) invites scholarly contributions from academicians, researchers, professionals, and policymakers. As the first-of-its-kind journal in India focused on disability laws and related jurisprudence, it aims to provide a dedicated platform for discourse, research, and legal development in the field of disability rights.

JDS is blind peer-reviewed and follows a multidisciplinary approach, welcoming theoretical, qualitative, and quantitative research across various fields, including legal, socio-economic, linguistic, psychological, feminist, historical, and political perspectives.

Submissions undergo a rigorous selection process based on originality, relevance, and scholarly contribution.

• Articles (6,000 – 10,000 words)
• Essays & Comments (4,000 – 6,000 words)
• Book Reviews (3,000 – 4,000 words) (Hard copy of the book must be provided)
• Case & Legislative Comments (4,000 – 6,000 words)

• Mode: Online Submission via Email
• Send your manuscript in MS Word (.docx) format to editorjds@hpnlu.ac.in with the subject line:
  “Submission to HPNLU-JDS-V2 <Title of Contribution>”
• Co-authorship is allowed for a maximum of two authors.
• Submissions must include an abstract (250-300 words) explaining the novelty and contribution of the research.
• Manuscripts must adhere to HPNLU-Shimla Citation Style.

• Plagiarism Policy: Manuscripts with more than 10% similarity will be rejected.
• Formatting:
  • Font: Times New Roman
  • Text: Size 12, 1.5-line spacing
  • Footnotes: Size 10, single-line spacing
• Manuscripts must not contain any reference to the author’s identity to maintain anonymity.
