About the University/Organization

The National Law School of India University (NLSIU) is one of the premier legal institutions in India, renowned for its focus on high-quality undergraduate and graduate legal and policy education. Situated in Bangalore, NLSIU consistently ranks at the top of India’s National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF). Since its establishment, NLSIU has been instrumental in shaping legal education and research, with its Chancellor being the Chief Justice of India, and the Chairman of the Bar Council of India serving as the Chairman of its General Council.

The Consumer Law and Practice Chair (CLAP Chair), established in August 2008 by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Government of India, aims to promote research, teaching, and training in Consumer Law and Practice. The Chair is currently headed by Prof. (Dr.) Ashok Patil, who also serves as the Chief Editor of the International Journal on Consumer Law and Practice (IJCLP).


About the Event

The International Journal on Consumer Law and Practice (IJCLP), ISSN 2347-2731, is an open-access, blind-peer-reviewed law journal published annually by NLSIU. The journal was established in 2013 under the aegis of the CLAP Chair and has recently been indexed in SCOPUS, HeinOnline, SCC OnLine, and the UGC CARE list. IJCLP features contributions from legal scholars, practitioners, and global experts, including previous articles by renowned individuals such as Hon. Justice AK Sikri, Prof. HC Mult Norbert Reich, and many others.

For Volume XIII (2025), the journal invites submissions on a range of topics related to consumer law, with an emphasis on contemporary issues impacting consumers worldwide.

Format/Structure

The journal welcomes contributions in the following categories:

  • Articles: 6,000–8,000 words (including footnotes)
  • Case Comments/Legislative Briefs: 2,500–3,000 words (including footnotes)
  • Book Reviews: 2,000 words (including footnotes) Note: Authors submitting Book Reviews must send a hard or soft copy of the book along with a consent letter from the publisher or author

The journal welcomes submissions on contemporary issues in consumer law, especially in the following themes:

  • Empowering Consumers through Clean Energy Transitions
  • Protecting Consumers in Food Crises Now and in the Future
  • Consumer Journeys in Digital Finance with Mobile Money
  • Consumer Voices in the G20
  • Combating Greenwashing in Consumer Protection
  • Electronic Enforcement of Consumer Law
  • Durability and Right to Repair: A Consumer Right
  • Digital Future: Building Trusted E-Commerce and Generative AI

The listed themes are indicative, and the journal is open to exploring other relevant and timely issues in consumer law and protection.
