About the Event:
In collaboration with IKP Knowledge Park, Hyderabad, and the IPR Cell of North Eastern Hill University, Shillong, NLU Meghalaya is hosting the Tech Transfer & IPR Symposium 2024. This event is designed to address the underutilized potential of Intellectual Property (IP) in the Northeast region, particularly in the field of technology transfer. The symposium serves as a platform to discuss the low rates of IP filings and the region’s potential for innovation.

Theme:
The primary theme of the symposium is “Navigating Intellectual Property Rights in the Innovation Landscape”, focusing on the role of IP management in fostering innovation. It invites discussions on how IP laws can be used strategically to promote technological advancements, commercialization, and economic growth.
Call for Papers:
NLU Meghalaya invites scholars, practitioners, and researchers to submit papers on the following sub-themes:
- Fundamentals and Dynamics of Intellectual Property Rights in the Evolving Economic Landscape:
- Discuss the impact of globalization, digitalization, and technological advancements on IP rights.
- Challenges in Protecting and Commercializing Intellectual Property:
- Address legal and practical difficulties in commercializing IP, such as patent infringement, funding constraints, and licensing agreements.
- Innovators’ Rights and Incentives:
- Explore how effective IP management can lead to economic development and innovation.
- Enforcing Intellectual Property Rights:
- Discuss the challenges associated with IP enforcement and explore alternative dispute resolution methods like arbitration and mediation.
Who Can Apply:
The symposium is open to post-graduate students, research scholars, academicians, and IP practitioners.
Submission Guidelines:
- Abstract Length: 300 – 500 words
- Paper Length: 3000 – 3500 words (inclusive of footnotes)
- Citation Style: Bluebook 21st Edition
- Co-Authorship: Up to one co-author (Both authors must register separately)
