The NLUD Journal on Labour, published by the Centre for Labour Law Research and Advocacy at the National Law University, Delhi, is now accepting submissions for its inaugural issue. This double-blind, peer-reviewed annual journal seeks to foster interdisciplinary scholarship on labour, offering a platform for academics, researchers, practitioners, and activists to engage in meaningful academic exchange.
About the NLUD Journal on Labour
The NLUD Journal on Labour is dedicated to advancing interdisciplinary scholarship on various aspects of labour. The journal’s editorial board is committed to promoting diversity and inclusivity, encouraging contributions from scholars across different fields and perspectives. Each issue will focus on contemporary debates and issues related to labour, with the inaugural edition (2024-25) centred on the theme \”Sociology of Labour.\”
Theme of the Inaugural Issue (2024-25): Sociology of Labour
The first edition of the NLUD Journal on Labour will explore the theme \”Sociology of Labour,\” aiming to provide a comprehensive platform for discussions on various labour-related issues. Potential sub-topics include but are not limited to:
- Nature of Work, Work Relationship, and Occupational Style
- Various Sectors within the Informal/Formal Sector and Its Political Economy
- Labour and Development Discourse on Work
- Feminist Analysis of Labour, Migration, and Development
- Intersectional Analysis of Labour Confluence
- Marginalised Labour Categories and Historical Injustices
- Structure of Labour Law and Its Influence on Labouring Lives
- Just Transition Debates on Labour
- New Industries, New Cities, and New Labour
- Urban Development and Labour
Editorial Board
The NLUD Journal on Labour boasts a distinguished editorial board composed of esteemed academics and experts in labour studies and law. The board is led by:
- Chief Patron: Prof. (Dr.) G.S. Bajpai, Vice-Chancellor, National Law University, Delhi
- Patron: Prof. (Dr.) Ruhi Paul, Registrar and Professor, National Law University, Delhi

Submission Guidelines
Types of Submissions:
- Special Articles (8000 – 10000 words): These should contribute to theoretical or empirical knowledge within the thematic area of the current issue, offering innovative perspectives.
- Short Articles (5000 – 8000 words): These should address themes of contemporary relevance, including empirical research or theoretical discussions that provide new insights.
- Insights/Perspectives (3500 – 4500 words): Short theoretical discussions based on contemporary happenings or solutions to labour-related deadlocks.
- Book Reviews/Case Notes (2500 – 3000 words): Reviews of books by recognized publishers and case notes on landmark decisions of the Supreme Court or High Courts on labour issues.
- Field Notes/Pictorial Commentaries (1-2 pages): Methodological material, such as field notes or pictorial representations, providing ground narratives and experiences.
Style Guidelines:
- Abstract: All submissions (except book reviews) should be accompanied by an abstract of not more than 300 words and five important keywords.
- Formatting: Manuscripts should be in Times New Roman, font size 12, with 1.5 line spacing. Footnotes should be in Times New Roman, font size 10, with single line spacing.
- Citation Style: Referencing and citations must conform to the APA Citation style.
Conditions of Publication:
- Exclusive Submission Policy: Submissions must be original and not under simultaneous consideration by any other publication.
- Indemnity for Liability: The author will bear full responsibility for any infringement, and the journal assumes no liability.
- Copyright Policy: Authors grant the NLUD Journal on Labour an irrevocable, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to reproduce, publish, and distribute their submission(s).
Submission Process
All submissions must be accompanied by a cover letter indicating the author’s name, affiliation, submission title, email address/contact number, and a declaration of originality. Submissions will be reviewed and edited by the Editorial Board under the supervision of the Editor-in-Chief.

- Notification of Acceptance: 15th February 2025
- Publication Date: 15th July 2025
