The NLIU Journal on Labour and Employment Laws (JLEL) is a peer-reviewed, annual journal that encourages academic discourse on labour laws, focusing on issues related to fair workspaces and social equity. Volume IV of JLEL invites original contributions examining the intersection of gig work and social security, with a particular emphasis on challenges and regulatory solutions under India’s evolving labour codes.

Main Theme: “The Intersection of Gig Work and Social Security: Challenges and Solutions in New Labour Codes”

In light of the growing gig economy, this volume examines the unique social security challenges gig workers face, including access to healthcare, pensions, and regulatory protections. Contributors are invited to address the following sub-themes:

1. Insolvency and the Gig Economy: Protecting Gig Workers’ Rights
2. Arbitration in the Gig Economy: Resolving Disputes and Ensuring Worker Rights
3. Legal Status of Gig Workers under the New Labour Codes
4. Social Security Provisions for Gig and Platform Workers

Categories of Submission

1. Articles (4,000 – 10,000 words): Comprehensive analysis with original perspectives and recommendations.
2. Essays and Short Articles (2,000 – 4,000 words): Focused discussions on specific issues with referenced sources.
3. Case Comments (2,500 – 5,000 words): Critical examination of recent judgments relevant to labour laws.
4. Book Reviews (1,500 – 3,000 words): Analytical reviews of recent publications on labour and employment laws.
5. Legislative Comments (2,000 – 4,000 words): Insightful analysis of recent legislative enactments in labour law.

Submission Guidelines

• Abstract: Submissions must include an abstract of up to 300 words with 5 keywords.
• Formatting:
  • Title: Times New Roman, 15 pt, bold, center-aligned.
  • Body: Times New Roman, 12 pt, justified, with 1.15 line spacing.
  • Footnotes: Times New Roman, 10 pt, following OSCOLA (4th Edition).
• Plagiarism Policy: Submissions must have a plagiarism level under 10%.
• Co-Authorship: Allowed for up to 2 authors for all categories, except for case comments, book reviews, and legislative comments.
