National Law University, Delhi (NLU Delhi) is one of India’s premier law universities, established with the objective of imparting world-class legal education and producing thought leaders in law, policy, and governance.

Over the years, NLU Delhi has been at the forefront of cutting-edge legal research, government collaborations, and policy formulation. The university frequently undertakes projects commissioned by ministries, statutory authorities, and international organizations.

For this project, NLU Delhi is collaborating with the Government of India, Ministry of Commerce, Department of Commerce to assess the current trade-in-services measures across state and local government levels in India. This initiative directly contributes to shaping India’s trade policies, international commitments, and economic growth strategy.

About the Event

The Department of Commerce has commissioned NLU Delhi to undertake the project titled:

“Comprehensive Assessment of Existing Trade in Services Measures at State/Local Levels of Government in India.”

Through this research project, NLU Delhi invites applications for three full-time researcher positions.

This opportunity allows selected candidates to:

  • Engage in policy-relevant field research on trade-in-services
  • Study the regulatory frameworks adopted by states and local governments
  • Identify legal and administrative challenges impacting India’s trade-in-services sector
  • Contribute to reports, data analysis, and policy recommendations that may shape India’s trade commitments at both national and global levels

Format and Structure

Responsibilities of Researchers:

  • Conduct field studies on trade-in-services measures adopted by states/local governments
  • Collect and analyze regulatory and policy data
  • Prepare legal and statistical analyses for the project report
  • Work closely with NLU Delhi faculty and Ministry officials for policy drafting
  • Ensure full-time commitment for the duration of the project

Evaluation & Selection:
Applicants will be evaluated based on educational qualifications, prior field study experience, research skills, and report writing abilities. Shortlisted candidates will be called for interviews before the final selection.


Location and Mode

Venue: National Law University, Delhi, Sector-14, Dwarka, New Delhi – 110078

Mode of Engagement: Full-time, offline research position with field assignments.
