Call for Submissions: Volume 21(2) of the Socio-Legal Review Journal & SLR Forum by NLSIU [Online, Law & Culture Special Issue]: Submit by 31 May 2025

About the University/Organization

National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru is India’s premier institution for legal education and research. Its flagship publication, the Socio-Legal Review (SLR), is a peer-reviewed, open access, student-run journal encouraging interdisciplinary dialogue at the intersection of law and social sciences. Since its inception in 2005, the Journal has contributed significantly to academic discourse and has been cited in landmark judgments by the Supreme Court of India.

About the Event

NLSIU’s Socio-Legal Review invites submissions for Volume 21(2), a Special Issue on “Law and Culture.” The volume seeks to explore the evolving interplay between law and culture in South Asia—across domains like cinema, photography, performance art, comedy, state propaganda, censorship, and more.

This issue aims to investigate how legal systems interact with, reflect, suppress, or enable culture—raising critical questions on identity, power, and marginalisation. SLR is particularly committed to amplifying voices from the margins of caste, gender, sexuality, religion, and region, offering a space for fresh, interdisciplinary perspectives.
