About the Role
The position of Senior Specialist – Legal (IP) at D. E. Shaw provides an exciting opportunity for professionals in Hyderabad, India, to work on various legal matters, particularly focusing on intellectual property and commercial contracts. As part of the Legal team, you will take on a critical role in analyzing and resolving legal risks while handling significant legal tasks such as contract reviews and negotiations. The position offers a dynamic mix of responsibilities, ranging from intellectual property law to transactional and real estate support.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, your day-to-day tasks will include:
- Reviewing and negotiating data and software license agreements, subscription agreements, order forms, and other intellectual property-related contracts.
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating various commercial contracts, including consulting agreements, event contracts, and non-disclosure agreements.
- Collaborating with D. E. Shaw’s global legal teams on various legal agreements and ad hoc projects.
- Providing legal support for goods and services agreements, including engagements with potential vendors and counterparties.
- Managing end-to-end contract lifecycle independently, ensuring the accuracy and legal soundness of agreements.
Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in law with an outstanding academic record.
- 3-4 years of relevant legal experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating intellectual property and commercial contracts.
- Exceptional organizational and analytical skills with an acute attention to detail.
- Strong communication and project management skills, capable of handling complex legal issues with efficiency.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proven experience in independently managing the contract lifecycle.
- Prior work with technology licensing, software agreements, and intellectual property law.
- Familiarity with the full spectrum of contract negotiations and managing counterparties.
