In a shocking case of identity fraud, a Delhi-based individual has been booked for impersonating the legal adviser of Amritsar Congress MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla. The accused was allegedly caught consuming alcohol in a public place in Sunny Enclave, Kharar, along with three other individuals.
This incident raises serious concerns about identity fraud, political impersonation, and security risks associated with misusing government symbols and political associations for personal benefit. With law enforcement authorities taking swift action, the case sheds light on the increasing number of impersonation cases in India.
A senior police official from Kharar Police Department confirmed, “We have registered a case under relevant sections of the IPC and are actively tracing the accused. Such offenses pose a serious threat to public trust and must be dealt with strictly.”
The accused is liable for serious legal consequences under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including:

Several recent cases have seen individuals falsely using government symbols, stickers, and political associations for personal benefits. The misuse of MP stickers, fake government IDs, and fraudulently issued government permits has become a growing concern for law enforcement.
Authorities have urged strict action against such cases to prevent further misuse of political symbols and government identity markers.
Following the incident and formal complaint, MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla issued a statement:
“I strongly condemn the misuse of my name and the false claims made by the accused. Such acts are not only deceptive but also a direct attack on the integrity of public representatives. I trust the police will take strict action against the accused to ensure such incidents do not occur in the future.”
His statement reinforces the need for accountability and legal action against individuals who fraudulently use political influence.
This incident serves as a strong reminder of the serious legal consequences of impersonation and identity fraud. Law enforcement agencies must remain vigilant to ensure political figures and government identities are not misused for fraudulent gains.
With police actively investigating the case, an arrest is expected soon, reinforcing the message that identity fraud and political impersonation will not be tolerated.
