About the Organisation

The Society for Constitutional Law Discussion (TSCLD):
TSCLD, founded by students of Chanakya National Law University (CNLU), Patna, serves as a platform for public discourse on Constitutional Law. The Society’s blog and journal rank 21st globally and 2nd in India in Constitutional Law blogs, offering a space for individuals to express opinions on constitutional matters fearlessly.

CNLU Legal Aid Cell:
Established in 2015, CNLU Legal Aid Cell focuses on promoting legal awareness and providing pro bono legal aid. With the motto “Stand, Speak, Act,” it aims to empower marginalized communities through various initiatives like client counseling, legal awareness camps, and more.

About the Event

The National PIL Drafting Competition aims to promote the use of Public Interest Litigation (PIL) to address societal issues such as environmental protection, child welfare, and economic exploitation. Participants will gain valuable advocacy skills while contributing to the welfare of the society.

Event Dates

• Release of Notification: 5th August 2024
• Last Date of Registration & Fee Payment: 5th September 2024
• Memorial Submission Deadline: 12th September 2024
• Oral Rounds: 29th September 2024
• Final Results: 15th October 2024

Event Format

The competition consists of two rounds:

1. Memorial Submission Round
2. Oral Pleading Round

Participants are required to submit a draft in English (UK/India) following the Harvard Bluebook (20th edition) citation style. Submissions must include essential components like a cover page, statement of facts, arguments advanced, and more.

Eligibility & Team Composition

• Eligibility: Open to all law students from recognized institutions.
• Team Composition: Teams may consist of one or two members, and cross-university teams are permitted.

• Best Team/Individual: INR 2,000
• 2nd Best Team/Individual: INR 1,500
• Best Memorial: INR 1,000
• Internship Opportunities at Four Pillars Chambers, New Delhi for the top three participants.
• Certificates: E-certificates of participation, merit certificates, and appreciation certificates for oral rounds qualifiers.
• 20% Scholarship for Lawctopus Law School courses.
