About the University/Organization

National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru, India’s premier law school, has hosted the prestigious H.M. Seervai Essay Competition in Constitutional Law annually since 1997. Instituted in memory of the legendary jurist H.M. Seervai by Senior Advocate Navroz Seervai, this competition honours scholarly excellence in constitutional thought.


About the Event

Now in its 28ᵗʰ edition, this competition invites law students across India to contribute original essays on constitutional law. The winner receives the H.M. Seervai Gold Medal, and their essay is published in the National Law School Journal (NLSJ) — a significant academic recognition.
