About the University/Organization
National Law University, Jodhpur (NLUJ) is one of India’s premier law schools, lauded for its commitment to academic excellence and cutting-edge legal scholarship. Known for shaping top-tier legal minds, NLUJ fosters a learning culture that is rigorous, diverse, and forward-thinking.
IDIA (Increasing Diversity by Increasing Access) is a student-led pan-India movement founded by late Prof. (Dr.) Shamnad Basheer, aimed at empowering underprivileged students by facilitating access to quality legal education. The IDIA Rajasthan Chapter, based at NLUJ, actively organizes awareness drives, training programs, and scholarship initiatives to democratize access to the legal profession.
IC Universal Legal (ICUL), one of India’s leading full-service law firms, partners for this initiative, offering participants a rare blend of academic challenge and career opportunity. Their expertise spans financial services, corporate law, and strategic advisory—making them a formidable name in the legal domain.
About the Event
The 2nd IDIA-ICUL Essay Writing Competition brings together law students from across India to deliberate on key themes in corporate and commercial law. After a highly successful first edition, this year’s competition features topical themes such as digital data protection, insider trading, and SEBI regulations. It’s more than just a writing contest—this is your chance to influence discourse, support social equity in legal education, and grab prizes, internships, and publication.
Participants can explore one of the provided themes (or propose a related topic), and submit original, well-reasoned essays.
