The Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM), operating under the Ministry of Ayush, is a prominent governmental body dedicated to advancing the Unani system of medicine in India. Since its inception, CCRUM has led the way in scientific research, development of clinical practices, and awareness campaigns to promote the holistic benefits of Unani medicine.
MyGov, the official citizen engagement platform of the Government of India, partners with CCRUM for public-centric initiatives and events that involve and empower citizens. Together, they bring this essay competition to a national audience in celebration of India’s 78th Independence Day.
To commemorate Independence Day 2025, CCRUM and MyGov have launched a national-level Essay Writing Competition on the theme “The Journey of Unani Medicine in Independent India.”
This competition aims to celebrate India’s rich tradition of alternative medicine systems—particularly Unani—and to acknowledge their evolution and contribution in post-independence India. It also encourages citizen engagement in reflecting upon the growth, relevance, and global impact of Unani practices.
Participants are invited to showcase their research, analytical depth, and writing prowess by submitting essays that highlight historical progress, policy developments, integration with public health, or future scope in Unani medicine.
