About MEA Internship Program
The Ministry of External Affairs is unveiling the second edition of the MEA Internships Programme for the year 2023-24. This initiative aims to further the Ministry's commitment to providing value to interns, fostering gender inclusivity, and enhancing diversity in qualifications, domicile, and socio-economic status among the interns.
Eligibility
Internships at MEA headquarters are open to Indian citizens with a minimum educational qualification of a graduate degree or those in their final year of the undergraduate program, where internship is mandatory.
Duration
Internships will be offered in two terms of six months each – April to September and October to March.
A maximum of 30 interns will be engaged during each term, with each intern serving for a minimum of one month and a maximum of three months.
Selection Process
The selection process, entirely online at www.internship.mea.gov.in, involves preliminary screening and personal interviews. The process includes a 'quota cum weightage' system, giving priority to applicants from specific states and union territories.

– January 1, 2024: Notification and Call for applications for Term – I, 2024
– January 14, 2024: Deadline for receiving applications
– January 19, 2024: Announcement of short-listed candidates and calls for interview
– February 3, 2024: Interviews (DVC)
– February 9, 2024: Announcement of selected candidates
– April 1, 2024: Start of Internship Term – I, 2024
Stipend
A monthly honorarium of INR 10,000 will be provided to each intern, along with one-time to and fro air travel costs to Delhi. Interns are responsible for their board and lodging during the internship.
