Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT), Kerala, is one of India’s most respected institutions for advanced legal and interdisciplinary education. Its School of Legal Studies is a hub for progressive legal research and policy reform. At the heart of this initiative lies the Justice V. R. Krishna Iyer Chair on Human Rights, named in honor of the visionary Supreme Court judge known for his landmark judgments and unwavering advocacy of social justice and constitutional morality.

Under the stewardship of Justice K. M. Joseph, former Judge of the Supreme Court of India and Chair Professor since March 2025, the Chair works extensively in awareness-building, outreach, and training, especially among educators and students. It stands committed to nurturing a culture of human dignity, equity, and legal empathy.

About the Event

The Third Seven-Day Online Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on Human Rights offers an intensive academic experience for educators and researchers. Designed to equip participants with deeper insights into teaching and researching human rights, this programme covers a wide range of sub-themes—from privacy and healthcare rights to socio-economic and minority rights. With daily interactive sessions led by expert faculty and guest speakers, the programme also aims to sensitize educators to global and national trends in human rights jurisprudence.

This is a valuable opportunity for faculty and research scholars to gain not only academic enrichment but also the credentials and understanding needed to embed human rights into their teaching, scholarship, and institutional ethos.
