The EMEA Legal Summer Institute (LSI) is a prestigious legal internship program aimed at providing early exposure to legal careers in the tech sector. The program combines paid internships at top-tier partner law firms with a skill-building and mentorship week at Google. Participants gain hands-on experience, attend career development workshops, and engage with legal experts to understand the nuances of private practice and in-house legal work in a global tech environment.

The program includes:
Participants will be selected based on their academic excellence, interest in law, and commitment to learning.
Venues: Various EMEA locations including Austria, Belgium, Egypt, France, Germany, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Kenya, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Switzerland, Tanzania, Turkey, UK, Uganda, and Zimbabwe.
Mode: Hybrid (in-person at partner firms and Google offices, with some sessions possibly online)

Participants will be mentored by Google lawyers and legal professionals with global experience in corporate, competition, IP, privacy, and regulatory affairs.
This is an individual internship opportunity.
Q1: Do I need prior legal work experience?
A: No, prior legal work experience is not required. The Legal Summer Institute (LSI) is designed specifically for law students who are just starting their legal careers. Whether you have little or no experience, this program aims to provide you with hands-on exposure to the legal field and help you develop practical skills.
Q2: Will I be paid for this internship?
A: Yes, this is a fully paid internship. Participants receive compensation for the time spent during the law firm internship weeks as well as for the Google workshop week.
Q3: Can I apply for a country different from where I currently reside?
A: Yes, but Google will not cover international travel or accommodation costs.
Q4: Is the mentorship program compulsory?
A: No, the mentorship program is optional. While not mandatory, it is highly recommended.
Q5: Is fluency in English required?
A: Yes, fluency in English is required. The Google week, including workshops, mentorship, and all official communications, will be conducted in English.
