The Graduate Research Fellowship at JSW-CFL is designed to nurture exceptional young scholars who wish to contribute to research with practical, policy-oriented outcomes, promoting interdisciplinary learning and systemic change.
About the Internship/Opportunity
The JSW Graduate Research Fellowship offers a unique, high-impact opportunity for scholars to immerse themselves in academic and policy research at one of India’s leading law universities. Fellows will be expected to:
- Develop and execute research programs in one of the Centre’s thematic areas, including drafting proposals, workshop notes, and collaborative research initiatives.
- Publish at least one peer-reviewed article annually and contribute four short-form pieces (policy briefs, blogs, opinion pieces) per year.
- Present research findings at seminars, colloquia, and workshops hosted by NLSIU.
- Assist with ongoing research projects under the supervision of the Centre’s directors (limited to 20% of monthly time).
- Teach one elective course per academic year, subject to approval by the Academic Review Committee.
- Demonstrate satisfactory progress for eligibility in the second year of the fellowship (for 2-year appointments).
This fellowship provides a comprehensive platform for scholars to gain exposure to interdisciplinary legal research, policy analysis, and academic teaching while actively contributing to NLSIU’s intellectual environment.

Eligibility & Requirements
Essential:
- Bachelor’s degree in any discipline.
- 1–3 years of research experience (with a Bachelor’s) or Master’s degree in any discipline.

- Proven research output (e.g., publication or equivalent work).
- Strong analytical, writing, editing, and time management skills.
