The Asian Journal of Comparative Law is seeking applications for the role of Managing Editor (appointed as a Research Associate) on a full-time basis for a period of one year, with the possibility of renewal based on performance. Format and Structure
The Managing Editor will report to the Editors-in-Chief and will play a critical role in managing the journal’s daily operations. Responsibilities include manuscript management, peer review coordination, liaising with authors and reviewers, ensuring editorial quality, managing social media outreach, and supporting long-term journal strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Handle submissions and peer reviews via the ScholarOne Manuscripts platform
- Perform initial editorial assessments of submissions
- Liaise with authors, reviewers, and Cambridge University Press
- Oversee the copyediting process and quality control of manuscripts
- Coordinate the journal’s social media and digital outreach
- Maintain editorial timelines and policies
- Support editorial board meetings and strategic planning
- Assist Subject Editors and Book Review Editors

Eligibility
- Law degree (LL.B required; LL.M preferred)
- Excellent command of legal English
- Strong eye for detail, grammar, and consistency
- Professional communication and multitasking abilities
- A deep interest in comparative law and Asian legal systems
- Familiarity with legal scholarship and academic writing
Preferred (but not mandatory):
- Prior experience with academic publishing or editing

Registration Fee
No application fee. This is a professional, salaried appointment.
Mentors/Supervisors
The Managing Editor will report directly to the Editors-in-Chief of AsJCL and coordinate with other subject editors and copyeditors. Administrative support will be available through the Dean’s Office (Law).
Team/Individual
This is an individual, full-time position. The selected candidate will function as the primary point of contact for the journal’s editorial operations.
