The NHRC, or National Human Rights Commission, is an organization dedicated to the protection and promotion of human rights.
The establishment of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) of India took place on 12 October, 1993. The establishment of this entity is governed by the Protection of Human Rights Act (PHRA), 1993, which has been modified by the Protection of Human Rights (Amendment) Act, 2006.

This is in accordance with the Paris Principles, which were established at the inaugural international workshop on national institutions for the advancement and safeguarding of human rights in Paris in October 1991. These principles were subsequently approved by the United Nations General Assembly through its Regulations 48/134 on 20 December 1993. The NHRC represents India’s commitment to advancing and safeguarding human rights.

Regarding the Opportunity NHRC Summer Internship Programme –
The National Human Rights Commission has been specifically authorized to enhance Human Rights education and consciousness under Section 12 (h) of the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993. In order to raise awareness among university students about the need of safeguarding and advancing Human Rights, the Commission has consistently organized Internship Programs since 1998.

The “Summer Internship Programme (SIP) 2024” will begin on June 10, 2024 (Monday) and end on July 5, 2024 (Friday), lasting for a duration of four weeks.

Mode of Internship Offline

Eligibility Criteria
Students that have finished 1st year and are pursuing 2nd or 3rd year LLB (3 years) degrees;
Students who have finished 3 years OR Semester VI of the 5 year course of BA/BA LLB etc. and pursuing 4th and 5th years;
Students pursuing L.L.M. Course; Students pursuing PG Diploma in Human Rights, MA in Human Rights, PG students of Political Science, Sociology, Social Work (MSW), Criminology, Public Administration Rural Development, History, Economics, Commerce, Anthropology, Mass Communication, International Relations and any of the discipline of Social Sciences would be considered with preference to students pursuing their final year; Only students of regular courses of UGC Recognized Universities will be eligible.
Students must have obtained a minimum of 65% marks in Class XII and all following years in attending degree programs.
The applicant should not be more than 28 years of age as on 01.05.2024.
