About the University/Organization

Increasing Diversity by Increasing Access (IDIA) TNNLU Chapter is a student-run initiative under the national IDIA framework, which works to make legal education accessible to underprivileged communities. Based at Tamil Nadu National Law University (TNNLU), the chapter organises awareness drives, mentorship, and training for marginalised students. In collaboration with KRIA Law, a Chennai-based full-service law firm with specialisation in intellectual property, litigation, and dispute resolution, this competition highlights IDIA’s ongoing commitment to inclusivity and legal empowerment.


About the Event

The IDIA TNNLU Essay Writing Competition, 2025 is a national-level online competition designed to encourage young minds to critically examine issues of inclusivity, access to justice, and the transformative potential of education. With categories open to school and college students across India, the event is also a fundraising initiative—supporting the IDIA TNNLU Chapter’s mission to train and empower underprivileged students to pursue legal education. Participants get the opportunity to showcase their writing skills while contributing to a noble cause.

Format and Structure

The competition will be held in three distinct categories based on academic level:

  • Category 1 (Grades 6–8):
    Topics include “Education for All: Why Every Child Deserves a Chance to Learn” and “Breaking Barriers: How We Can Make Schools More Inclusive.”
  • Category 2 (Grades 9–12):
    Topics include “Bridging the Gap: The Role of Technology in Making Education Accessible” and “Overcoming Obstacles: How Can Schools Support Students with Disabilities?”
  • Category 3 (College Students – UG and PG):
    Topics include “Legal Education and Social Mobility: Can Law Schools Drive Change?” and “From Policy to Practice: Evaluating the Effectiveness of Inclusivity Measures in Higher Education.”

Submissions will be judged on originality, relevance to the theme, clarity, and language. Word limits are 800 words for school students and 1500–2000 words for college students. Only one submission is allowed per participant. All entries must be in English and previously unpublished.

Prizes:
Prizes worth ₹10,000+ will be awarded to top entries in each category. Winners will receive cash prizes, and all participants will be issued e-certificates of participation.

Open to students from Classes 6–12 and college students (UG and PG) from recognized institutions in India.

Registration Fee:

  • ₹200 for school students
  • ₹300 for college students

All proceeds go directly toward IDIA’s charitable work in legal education access.

Details will be shared with shortlisted candidates. Evaluation will be conducted by a panel of legal professionals and academicians affiliated with IDIA and KRIA Law.

A: Students from Classes 6–12 and college students (undergraduate and postgraduate) from any recognized institution in India.

Q2: Is a recommendation/reference required?
A: No, references or recommendations are not needed for registration.

Q3: Will all participants receive a certificate?
A: Yes, all registered and submitting participants will be awarded e-certificates.

Q4: Is there a registration fee?
A: Yes. ₹200 for school students and ₹300 for college students. The fee directly supports the education of IDIA trainees.

Q5: Can international students apply?
A: No, the competition is currently open only to students enrolled in Indian schools or colleges.
