Tamil Nadu National Law University (TNNLU), established in 2012 in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, is a premier legal institution dedicated to excellence in legal education and research. Spread over a sprawling 25-acre campus, TNNLU offers integrated undergraduate law programs (B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) and B.Com. LL.B. (Hons.)), one-year LL.M programs, and Ph.D. programs in law and interdisciplinary studies. About the International Med-Arb Competition (IMAC) 2025

The ADR Committee of TNNLU is excited to host the inaugural International Med-Arb Competition (IMAC), a global platform for aspiring ADR professionals. Med-Arb is a hybrid mechanism combining mediation and arbitration to resolve disputes collaboratively and decisively.

IMAC aims to provide participants with a realistic and comprehensive experience of ADR mechanisms, emphasizing the importance of innovation in dispute resolution. The competition features dual roles for participants across two stages in each round:

1. Mediation (as Client-Counsel or Mediator).
2. Arbitration (as Counsel or Arbitrator).

The competition begins with online Preliminary Rounds and culminates in Advanced Rounds held on-campus at TNNLU, Tiruchirappalli.

• Provisional Registration Opens: 25th November 2024
• Deadline for Provisional Registration: 15th December 2024
• Final Registration Opens: 20th December 2024
• Deadline for Final Registration: 10th January 2025
• Release of Problem Statement: 25th December 2024
• Clarifications Deadline: 2nd January 2025
• Submission of Arbitration Memorandum: 20th January 2025
• Preliminary Rounds (Online): 25th January 2025
• Advanced Rounds (On-Campus): 19th–20th April 2025
• Valedictory Ceremony: 20th April 2025

Competition Format

Preliminary Rounds (Online):

• Teams compete in Mediation and Arbitration rounds.
• Participants take on the roles of Mediators/Arbitrators and Client-Counsel.
• Drafting of an Arbitral Award concludes each round.

Advanced Rounds (On-Campus):

• Top 16 teams proceed to Qualifier, Semi-Finals, and Final Rounds held on TNNLU campus.
• Participants engage in immersive Med-Arb sessions.
