About the Organization

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, formulates and implements the country’s Foreign Trade Policy with the primary objective of promoting India’s exports. It plays a vital role in facilitating international trade through policy-making, regulation, and partnerships. About the Internship

The Summer Internship Programme 2025 by DGFT aims to foster interaction between young scholars from top-tier academic institutions and professionals engaged in shaping India’s foreign trade policy. Interns are expected to bring fresh academic perspectives that will help critically analyze and improve existing frameworks and schemes. The programme is designed to offer mutual benefits: while DGFT benefits from innovative ideas, interns gain valuable exposure and a stepping stone to future policy, economic, or legal roles.

Format/Structure

Eligibility Criteria:

• Must hold a graduation degree in Law, Public Policy, Economics, Finance, or Management with at least 60% marks.
• Candidates pursuing or having completed post-graduation in these fields will be preferred.
• Open only to Indian nationals, residing in India or pursuing studies abroad.
• Institutions must be recognized (e.g., National Law Schools, Central Universities, AICTE-approved institutions, or reputed foreign universities).

Requirements During Internship:

• Interns must sign a Declaration of Secrecy before joining.
• Interns must submit a report or paper at the end of the programme.
• Interns will receive a certificate upon satisfactory completion and approval of their submitted work.

Interns will work under the supervision of senior officers and gain experience in trade regulation, policy assessment, and legal analysis relevant to India’s economic ecosystem.
