About the Internship

The LLB Internship Programme is an initiative to familiarize young law students and graduates with the workings of the Department of Legal Affairs. Interns will be given opportunities to work on real legal cases, conduct research, and assist in providing legal opinions on various issues related to:

Internship Schedule

Format & Structure

  • Mode: In-person, full-time
  • Duration: 1 month (starting on the first working day of each month)
  • Work Assignments:
  • Legal research and case referencing
  • Assisting in drafting legal opinions
  • Attending court proceedings and analyzing cases
  • Supporting litigation and arbitration matters
  • Providing assistance in the application of various legal policies
  • Reporting Hours: 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM

Interns will be expected to maintain a high level of discipline and adhere to the work schedule strictly. The internship requires 90% attendance for successful completion.


Location

Interns will be deployed at the following locations based on availability and departmental requirements:

  • Main Secretariat, New Delhi
  • Central Agency Section, Supreme Court of India
  • Litigation High Court Section, Delhi
  • Branch Secretariats in Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Bengaluru

Interns will be assigned to different legal sections, where they will work under the supervision of legal officers.

Eligibility Criteria

To apply for the internship, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Law Students:
  • Completed 2nd year of a 3-year LLB program or
  • Completed 3rd year of a 5-year LLB program
  • Law Graduates: Those who have completed their LLB from a recognized institution can apply.
  • *Additional Preference: Candidates with knowledge of *MS Office, Infographics, and Adobe will be given preference.

Applicants currently enrolled in college/university must submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their institution. Graduates are exempt from this requirement but must submit their final-year certificate.


Application Process

  • Interested candidates must apply online through the Department of Legal Affairs Internship Portal.
  • The last date to apply is 11 March 2025.
  • Shortlisted candidates will be informed via email or the internship portal.
  • A maximum of 50 candidates will be selected for each monthly batch.

Interns must maintain professionalism, punctuality, and confidentiality throughout the internship. Violations of conduct, including unauthorized disclosure of information, may result in termination from the program.


Additional Information

  • Accommodation: Interns must arrange their own stay during the internship.
  • Library Access: Available for reference purposes only; borrowing of books is not allowed.
  • Disciplinary Action: Any misconduct or failure to follow departmental guidelines may lead to termination from the program.
