About the Internship Programme

The Internship Programme for LLB Interns, organized by the Department of Legal Affairs, aims to acquaint law students with the functioning of the department by providing them with valuable exposure to legal research, court proceedings, and legal opinion drafting. The internship provides young legal minds with hands-on training in areas such as constitutional law, economic law, infrastructure law, and labour law, among others.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Law Students: Students who have completed the 2nd year of a three-year law degree or the 3rd year of a five-year integrated law degree are eligible to apply.
  • Graduates: Those who have completed their law degree from any recognized university/college are also eligible.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced knowledge of MS Office, infographics, Adobe tools, and basic legal software is preferred.

Candidates interested in applying for this internship programme must submit an application online through the Internship Portal on the Department of Legal Affairs’ website. Along with the application, students are required to provide a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their respective college/university, while law graduates must upload their final year certificates.

Selection Process

The selection process involves the shortlisting of up to 50 interns each month based on the applications received. Shortlisted candidates will be informed via email or through the Internship Portal. Successful applicants will be deployed across New Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Bengaluru to work closely with the department’s legal officers.


Honorarium and Certification

  • Honorarium: Interns will receive a stipend of Rs. 1,000 upon successful completion of the internship.
  • Certification: A certificate of completion will be issued, provided the intern has maintained 90% attendance and received satisfactory feedback from their supervising authority.
