About the Ministry

The Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) is a key governmental body in India dedicated to the empowerment, protection, and welfare of women and children. As part of its initiative to foster engagement and awareness, the Ministry is inviting applications for its Internship Programme aimed at orienting students, scholars, social activists, and teachers with its policies and schemes.

About the Internship Programme

The Internship Programme is designed to translate the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of “Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas” into action by enabling participants to undertake pilot projects and micro-studies related to the Ministry’s ongoing activities. The selected interns will gain hands-on exposure to policy formulation, research, and implementation strategies aimed at addressing issues related to women and children.

Internship Duration & Schedule

The internship programme will be conducted in four distinct terms throughout the financial year:

Each internship term will last two months.

Eligibility Criteria

• Open to women students, scholars, social activists, and teachers from non-tier-I cities and rural areas of India.
• Applicants must be enrolled in or associated with a university, academic institution, or non-academic institution.
• Age Limit: 21 to 40 years.
• Candidates from Tier-I cities (Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Pune) are not eligible.

Activities & Scope of Work

Interns will engage in activities such as:

• Conducting pilot projects and micro-studies on MWCD initiatives.
• Providing empirical analysis, policy papers, and briefings to contribute to decision-making.
• Assisting in implementation strategies and stakeholder interactions.
• Participating in discussions and research assignments related to policy formulation.

Interns will have the opportunity to interact with MWCD officials, other government ministries, and stakeholders working towards the empowerment of women and children.

Application Process

• Applications must be submitted online via the Internship Programme Portal.
• The application window is open two months before the start date, between 1st and 10th of the specified month.
• Once selected, an applicant cannot apply for subsequent terms.

Selection Process

A Selection Committee constituted by MWCD will review applications. Faculty members and experts from reputed research institutions may be involved in the selection process.

Number of Interns

The Ministry will select up to 20 interns per batch.

---

Stipend & Benefits

• Stipend: Rs. 20,000 per month.
• Travel reimbursement (AC 3-tier train or deluxe AC bus fare) for joining and returning.
• Accommodation: Hostel facility in Delhi with triple-sharing rooms, attached bathrooms, basic amenities (bed, table, chair, cupboard). Mess charges are not included.
• Logistic support: Interns will receive seating arrangements, internet access, and stationery.
• Mentorship: Each intern will be assigned a Coordinator for guidance and networking.
• Certification: A certificate will be awarded upon successful completion of the internship.

Termination & Performance Review

• MWCD will monitor intern performance and ensure timely completion of assignments.
• Non-compliance or unsatisfactory performance may result in termination of the internship with due notice.
