The Institute of Law at Nirma University is organizing a National Conference on the theme “Contemporary Issues and Challenges in Labour and Industrial Laws” on October 18-19, 2024. This timely conference aims to bring together experts, policymakers, academics, and researchers to discuss pressing issues in labour and industrial laws and explore viable solutions.
Labour law is a crucial area with wide-reaching impacts on employers, employees, consumers, and the national economy. With the advent of globalization, liberalization, and technological advancements, new challenges have emerged, particularly for unskilled workers in developing countries like India. The COVID-19 pandemic exacerbated these issues, severely affecting migrant workers and daily wagers, with unemployment rates rising sharply.
The main thrust of the conference will be to identify contemporary legal issues in labour and industrial laws and chart out a roadmap for resolving various challenges through legal means. The following sub-themes have been recognized for the conference:
The conference aims to promote ideas on maintaining a balance between the interests of various stakeholders like employers, employees, and governments. It is planned to be a platform for experts to brainstorm and suggest workable solutions for contemporary challenges related to wages, social security, and occupational safety.
