About the Opportunity
The hiring company is looking for a Legal and Compliance Officer to join its team in Noida. This role offers a mid-level legal professional the chance to directly contribute to legal strategy, compliance, and risk mitigation in a fast-paced startup environment.
The role is ideal for candidates who have previously worked in tech startups, e-commerce platforms, or online services companies and are now looking for broader responsibilities, including interfacing with regulatory bodies, advising internal teams, and helping to build scalable legal processes.
Job Responsibilities
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide variety of contracts and commercial agreements.
- Overseeing regulatory and statutory compliance for the company’s operations, products, and services.
- Managing legal risk and advising business teams on applicable laws and regulations.
- Interpreting and advising on laws related to corporate governance, IT laws, and data privacy.
- Monitoring compliance processes and developing internal policies to meet applicable legal standards.
- Coordinating with external legal advisors and consultants when required.
- Staying updated on industry developments, especially in the digital, e-commerce, and data protection sectors.
Eligibility Criteria
- Educational Qualification:
- Must have an LL.B. degree from a recognized university.
- Additional qualifications such as an LL.M. or professional certification (e.g., Company Secretary) will be an added advantage.
- Experience:
- Minimum 3 to 6 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in a legal and/or compliance role.
- Prior work experience in tech startups, e-commerce, or digital businesses is highly preferred.
- Skills and Competencies:
- Strong understanding of corporate and commercial laws.
- Experience in handling regulatory compliance, contract management, and internal governance frameworks.
- Excellent legal drafting and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and interface with different business units.
- Proactive, responsible, and detail-oriented approach.
