About the Role
Infosys is seeking a Legal Counsel / Senior Legal Counsel with expertise in Artificial Intelligence to join our team in Bangalore. This role will involve providing legal guidance to various business units regarding compliance requirements related to AI technologies, negotiating contracts, and collaborating with stakeholders to develop processes for AI adaptation.
Key Responsibilities
- Compliance Guidance: Provide legal advice on compliance requirements related to AI technology and negotiate AI-related terms in vendor and client contracts.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with various departments to develop and implement processes for AI adaptation.
- Contract Review: Review technical and legal aspects of service and product agreements, ensuring technology teams are aware of potential risks.
- Negotiation: Negotiate contracts with clients and vendors concerning product licensing and services.
- IP and AI Risk Management: Oversee the risk assessment process for proprietary product/platform development related to IP and AI.
- Legal Research: Conduct research on emerging technology areas to enhance understanding and update contractual positions.
- Cybersecurity Support: Assist in developing a framework for handling cybersecurity incidents and support technology teams with open-source compliance.
- Online Legal Issues: Address issues such as intermediary liability, web crawling, online brand abuse, jurisdiction challenges, domain name squatting, and IP leakage enforcement.
- Education: Develop training materials related to IP and AI awareness within the organization.
- Communications: Draft and review cease-and-desist notices and other communications related to IP infringement.
Qualifications
- Education: Technical background (preferably in electronics/software) along with a LLB degree.
- Experience: 6 to 10 years of work experience in a corporate environment, with familiarity in AI technology and regulatory developments, particularly in the EU and US.
Professional Skills
- Contract Knowledge: Strong understanding of various contracts such as MSA, software license agreements, SaaS, and MOUs.
- Technical Acumen: Knowledge of the software development lifecycle and emerging technologies such as AI, IoT, and cloud security.
- IP Law Understanding: Clear comprehension of IP concepts, including patents, copyrights, and trade secrets, along with practical knowledge of issues like fair use and licensing principles.
- Open Source Compliance: Knowledge of open-source license compliance processes.
- Communication Skills: Excellent oral and written communication abilities, with the capability to address complex techno-legal issues effectively.
