Job Description: Labour & Employment Law – Associate Manager/Manager

Accenture is seeking a Labour & Employment Counsel (Associate Manager/Manager) to join our Employment Law (India) Legal Group. This role is part of the CORE (Operations, Regulatory, and Ethics) Legal team and focuses on delivering employment law support across Accenture’s operations. You will collaborate with Employee Relations, HR, Recruitment, Workplace, Global Asset Protection (GAP), Marketing & Communications, and Government Relations.

The role involves providing legal advisory services, dispute management, legal drafting, and regulatory monitoring. You will offer strategic guidance on employment law matters such as employment contracts, misconduct investigations, POSH compliance, policy review, and labour law compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advisory Services: Provide legal advice on a wide range of employment-related issues, including hiring practices, employment contracts, misconduct, harassment, discrimination, employee benefits, termination procedures, and more. Proactively assess and mitigate employment legal risks.
  • Employment Disputes and Litigation: Manage employment-related disputes, including wrongful termination, discrimination claims, and wage disputes. Lead litigation and collaborate with external legal counsel to strategize and achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Legal Drafting: Draft legal statements, responses to claims, and conduct legal research to support employment dispute cases. Stay updated on recent case laws and legal precedents.
  • Sexual Harassment Law Compliance: Provide legal advice related to the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act, ensuring organizational compliance with the Act’s provisions.
  • Policy Review and Development: Collaborate with internal stakeholders to review and implement employment policies that align with local labour laws and the organization’s values. Ensure policies are up to date and compliant with regulatory changes.
  • Regulatory Monitoring: Monitor evolving employment laws and regulations and assess their impact on Accenture’s operations. Recommend proactive compliance measures to mitigate potential legal risks.
  • Labour Law Compliance: Ensure compliance with labour laws, including the Shops and Establishments Act. Advise internal teams on labour law obligations and assist in audits and assessments.
  • Court Proceedings: Represent Accenture in employment disputes and ensure the organization’s legal strategies align with Indian labour laws and regulatory standards.

Required Skills

  • Legal Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of Indian labour laws and regulations, including experience with POSH compliance, employment disputes, and court proceedings.
  • Court Experience: Hands-on experience representing clients in courts and tribunals, along with proficiency in drafting legal documents.
  • Advisory Expertise: Experience providing legal advice on employment law issues such as employee contracts, misconduct investigations, and employment disputes.
  • Strong Communication: Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders and external counsel.
  • Analytical Abilities: Strong legal research and analytical skills, with attention to detail and organizational capabilities.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Education: LLB (Bachelor of Laws) from a recognized university.
  • Experience: 6+ years of relevant experience in Labour & Employment Law.
  • Experience with employment disputes, litigation, and court submissions is highly desirable.

Location

This role is based in Gurgaon and Bangalore, India. Candidates should be comfortable working on-site, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and managing employment legal issues that span Accenture’s operations across India.
