About the Event

WTI’s Natural Heritage Campaigns (NHC) and Wildlife Crime Control Division are inviting applications for a 3-month legal internship at their Noida headquarters. This role is focused on legal research, litigation support, and reporting related to elephant conservation and wildlife crime in India.

Interns will work under the guidance of WTI’s lead legal counsel, assist in real case analysis, and contribute to meaningful wildlife conservation outcomes.

Format and Structure

Interns will undertake a mix of desk research, field coordination, and legal analysis, with the following responsibilities:

  • Legal research on elephant conservation laws and existing judicial interventions
  • Literature review of wildlife crime case studies (India & global)
  • Drafting reports and case summaries on legal and compensatory mechanisms
  • Coordinating with forest counsels and field teams across India
  • Compiling data for technical and donor reporting
  • Participating in meetings, court visits, and interactions with legal stakeholders
  • Supporting ongoing and strategic litigation work related to elephant protection

Eligibility

Open to:

  • Law students enrolled in a 5-year or 3-year LL.B. program, or LL.M. candidates
  • Students genuinely interested in environmental law, wildlife crime, or public interest litigation

  • Excellent research and legal writing abilities
  • Comfort with interdisciplinary, field-based legal work
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate with diverse teams and meet deadlines independently
  • Familiarity with wildlife laws or environmental jurisprudence is a plus

None. This is a paid internship with a monthly stipend of ₹9,000/-
